WORKPLAN "Health-in-all-Policies" AKA "next steps"
"Heads-Up Alert"
Please Read. Social equity and community development are "complicated issues" at the heart of inequality. "Social Equity" comes with their own language, jargon, terminologies and social change theories and more. Thus, this note is for the reader who is not familiar the language, find it challenging, complex or just plain different, we ask your indulgence with terms and disciplines, such as; social equity, service delivery systems, community infrastructure, wrap-around and/or holistic social values, universal access, determinants of health, determiants of equity, and others -- please give us a call if clarity is needed Ricardo 415 883-1757 or send me a note: hnef@aol.com or google California strategic plan "Portrait of Promise"
The approach is to establish baselines, track and record the utilization of existing assets and systems as a means to determine operational proficiency, value-added equity, growth and investment potential. - then scale upward base on proof of effectiveness. The focus can either be on institutional service systems, special projects, special sectors within a community or commuity as a whole -- our preference.
Down the Road
ROSI "return on social investments" is to create a template for investment portfolios. The long tern goal is to attrack a "takeout" grantor, an entity or combination of investors that wants to make a 10 year commitment to systemic permanent transormation, e.g. The Ford Foundation, The California Endowment, Even Google are candidates for this type of investment.
Our work will also help develop a template for community wide masterplan with an interactive HUB per "collective impact -- focus on the elmination of inequities/disparities "all policies" -- perhaps a blueprint for other struggling communities
Leadership "Succession leadership and/or building new leadership is vital" These days the learning curve for social activism is different and more complicated due to data, theories, cultural divide, inability to use funding wisely, silo'ed operations, political inconsistencies or neglect and the changing, draught strickened, national politic.
The national politic is exist in a quagmire of opposing interest which doesn't translate well, downward into local communities ... and much of the innovative works being done at the local levels doesn't translate upward into the national dialogue.
Welcome to the innovative Marin City Social Equity Project. The project is a collaboration between a multidisciplinary team of community activists (Isoji/MDT), and our local Marin City Community Services District (CSD) or local elected government.
